WHO ARE THE SILENT GENERATION ?

The name “The Silent Generation” was coined by Time magazine in a famous essay in 1951… Born 1921 – 1945, now in their late 70’s – 90’s, they started out as children of crisis.

They are small in number because of the low birth rates in the 30’s and 40’s. Their traits are different depending on the race they were born into… The fact is that they could easily be called the “Silenced Generation.”

They are the least documented generation because they were born before the development of the technology that gave the world Facebook and Twitter.

They were the first to do many things  - creating the foundation for the opportunities, places, and things that the following generations would come to enjoy.

I am one of the Silent Generation... I was born in 1939, the same year that World War II began. My birth was seventy- six years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, seventy-four years after the Civil War ended, twenty-five years after World War I began, and ten years after the Great Depression.

It is obvious that my ancestors lived through, and survived, crisis after crisis.

I realized that this Silent Generation had experiences like no other - there was so much to share; therefore, I contacted some of my friends to talk about our memories. These conversations became the source of a documentary of my own creation... "THE SILENT GENERATION" -  Our Stories, Our Truth.

My purpose in choosing this name for my documentary is to stimulate conversation…  It is important to have that conversation before it is too late! Without a doubt, because of our age,  there are few of us left. We realize that we are on the down side of the mountain.

Hear us now!!!

This is my first ever attempt at creating and editing a film, but I always heard that you are never too old to learn... Please watch...
